Mette Magler Bowen is the 2015 recipient of NACC Chicago Chapter Member of the Year Award. She is a native of Oslo, Norway, and immigrated to the US in 1967. During her time in the US she has given time, as her daughter once described, being a “professional Norwegian”. She has or is currently serving on the boards of Nordic Fest, Decorah, IA; Decorah, IA, Chamber of Commerce; Lake Forest, IL Chamber of Commerce; NACC Chicago Chapter, two terms as the president; Norwood Crossing; and Vesterheim, The National Norwegian-American Museum & Heritage Center. She is a retired Real Estate Broker, and earlier in her career owned and operated L&M Fabrics where she imported and sold Norwegian Buands and accessories. Mette and her husband Ed are the proud grandparents of 15, spread out from Idaho to Norway and many place in between.
